Engine of passenger train derails near Ooty
In Nilgiri District ,every day the mountain rail is operated from Ooty to coonoor at 12.30pm and from Coonoor to Ooty at 2pm.The train engine is powered by biodiesel with 5 Boxes. After reaching Coonoor the train is operated from Coonoor to Mettupalayam.It is run by engine oil.
The engine of the Coonoor-Udhagamandalam train derailed near Aruvangadu Railway station, some 12 km from here on Thursday, but no passenger was injured.
Yesterday asusual the train was started at 12.30pm from Coonoor.There were 150 Passengers on it. At Afternoon 1pm it was reached Aruvankadu railway station. After about 3.5km away the train was derailed suddenly. So the Train did not go further.
One wheel of the engine went off the track and immediately got stuck on the ground and under its impact the other wheel also came off.Senior railway officials rushed to the spot and the stranded passengers were sent to their onward destination by road
